Just last month, Kroger accepted Apple’s Payment platform, known as Apple Pay, across all of its stores and other places, and this action has brought to light the decision of another supermarket chain in America, which is Walmart. To this date, Walmart has shown no interest in accepting Apple Pay as a payment option, and this has often left people puzzled as Apple Pay is a very popular payment platform.
Now, after the decision taken by Kroger, it is said that Walmart will also accept Apple Pay; however, this seems very farfetched as Walmart has even launched its own payment platform by the name of Walmart Pay.
Why Is Walmart Not Accepting Apple Pay?
Now, if you are also wondering, Does Walmart take Apple Pay? then you know that the supermarket chain does not accept Apple Pay despite the payment application being so famous and used all across the country. Walmart still relies on OR code payments, unlike the cashless and contactless payment methods used by Apple Pay.
Even after Walmart promoted users to use Walmart Pay, the application has not gained much popularity, and users are still requesting Apple Pay as a means of payment. Walmart has even made the claim that Walmart Pay is more popular than Apple Pay; however, this is a fact that can still be debated. After the decision by Kroger, Walmart has stated its own reasoning for not using Apple Pay, and they have claimed that Apple Pay does not share the information of customer payment with the shopping merchant, and since Walmart relies heavily on this information, it is not possible for Walmart to use Apple Pay.
Despite the constant complaints from Walmart users, Walmart still stands as the biggest supermarket chain in The United States of America that has not accepted Apple Pay, and it is considerably under their rights.
